Jeremy Michael Vasquez is an activist, artist, poet, author, father and educator. Born in the Bay Area and raised by his grandmother, Jeremy was always told that he was going to be dead or be in jail by the age of 25. He also had a stutter and realized that speaking could be used against him. It was then that he started to develop his voice as a written artist. He was silenced but still pursued his pen game and became a prolific writer.
Then he arrived at college. He finally had the opportunity to make choices and I am responsible for those choices. This was the beginning of his journey of self-discovery. Through this work, he was able to find himself and started on a path to helping others do the same.
Today, Jeremy works with black and brown youth in jails, juvenile facilities and rehab centers to dismantle generational chains. He specializes in confronting rape culture and toxic masculinity/machismo. Through his poetry and motivational speaking, he breaks through vulnerability to unpack trauma.
Jeremy asks, “Do you want to be a victim of your circumstances or change your narrative?” Learn more about this revolutionary artist on the latest episode of Uncensored Visionary.
